I noticed In the pics, very little traffic is seen in the background. The Border at Albury/ Wodonga, the EH is parked and not causing any problems.
The EH Specifications say it's top speed was 35 mph.
That explains the owners claim in the paper that it was a 48 Hour trip between Sydney and Melbourne.

The library staff are maybe why some of the photo descriptions are somewhat vague. The dates given can sometimes be confusing too.
This is a Main Roads travelling workshop. Or is it something else ? It looks like it has a military heritage . collection.sl.nsw.gov.au/record/9WZRJ8oY/p7mkexqeKjvol
Is it a COE Ford ? It has faint markings USA ? And a reg. Number.

To me definitely a Ford.. Are those gin poles (an American oilfield name) sticking out of the top rack?? Like it had a winch inside the body and they were attached to the rear for lifting things???

More State library NSW pics. Getting back to AEC , this fuel tanker was pictured at Bankstown airport during the war. Enlarging the door reveals " RAF Singapore " . Maybe this vehicle was diverted to a safe port , unloaded in Australia.

The NAA system has some accident reports. The accident files are usually over 100 pages of interviews and statements with photos.
This 1945 report involved a RAAF Jeep which had 9 (nine) people on board, including three civilians - one holding a bicycle.
The Jeep tipped tipped over, sadly, a civilian was killed.
