I could almost swear that M&MTB Bedford is wearing "garden state" plates from the late 70's. I must be seeing that wrong. When I left Victoria in 1978 it was all J and TK Bedfords among the Dodges and Inters. To be fair, these are the memories of an eight year old...

Jarrod, Your observation on the Bedford  number plate is correct.  It's a late 1970s plate.  Green  txt on the white background, Some of  these early Victorian reflective plates were faulty, the reflective paint cracked and they were  recalled . Car owners were required to hand them in and you were issued new plates with a different reg. Number.  

I can remember seeing a few of the enamelled all numeral 1930s number plates  around .  In the late 1970s, the old Leyland ( or AEC ? ) MMTB buses in Melbourne,  had wartime number plates .  

I was a number plate spotter .

The Ford

Photo of the SEC Ballarat Ford welding truck, at the intersection of Macarthur St and Wendouree Parade, View Point Junction. Note tram stop signage. This Austin would be one of the refugee vehicles that were diverted to Australian ports.

The 3rd Australian Ambulance Car Company  (AACC)  was based in Kavanagh st,  South Melbourne , the unit had a few depots at other locations.  The unit war diary is available to read in the AWM archives.

A business in Marysville, Victoria used this 1940 Chev and a Morris-Commercial. Pics are circa 1950 .Third truck is a Thames ? ?  The Chev has a standard cab , with a unusual  custom van body.   reg. number DA 526  was issued approx. 1942

Scenes around Woomera or Maralinga in the 1950s

Series 1 Land Rovers with Commonwealth nr plates. A Inter ute, in the background is a WW2 British Ford 6x4 WOT 1 truck .

RAAF vehicles , some scenes are in the M.E. 

The British 6x4 is a Crossley ? 

The Ford 6x4 maybe a 'Sussex'  modell

The Ford pickup has 900-13 tyres / wheels fitted.
