Hi,

for the early part of my childhood we had an outdoor dunny in the backyard, with passion fruit growing over and through to hide the smell and give you something to eat, and I can sort of recall the English looking long bonnet truck with the shelves on the back to hold the cans. I seem to recall a dark green one and a red one.

A quick search on Google shows a few old images of the night soil man and his truck however that is not really what I am looking for, I am more interested in whether anyone has seen a restored dunny truck at a show or in a collection somewhere as I think they might be an overlooked rich part of the commercial vehicle history.

Don't know about restored but this guy still gets around our way in an older mid 80's SAR, with the meanest sounding Jakes out there.

When Hunter Bros lost the Brisbane contract to Brambles ,they had a huge auction ..hundreds of J5 Bedford s sold for a few dollars above scrap price each ......each truck had two doors thrown in (literally) ,mostly new doors....Hunters had a depot on an island in one of the creeks ,at Legeyt St Windsor  ....possibly Kedron Brook  nope . The truck has 48 cylinders and flies...

I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.
