I grew up around split window kombis and I never saw one with Safari windows, but now every other one has them.
Can anyone remember seeing Safari windows back in the day.
The first car I legally drove on the road was a splitty.

From memory, the very early ones had those windows. My late Dad had a VW agency in the 60s and I'm sure some of the older
ones with the semaphore indicators came out like that, but not a later model like the one in the picture.
Would still love to own it though, but when you think of today's value of a 17-window van complete, it's costly toy.

I know what you're saying Lang. A guy here in town paid $120,000 for one that the previous owner spent $200,000 on restoration, with receipts to prove it.

It's funny the dual cab Lang posted is a "restoration" when no dual cab (which were rarer than rare) came with the alloy frim around the colour join. the over-ridders, chrome window frames, sunroof chromed VW emblem, Porsche wheels, or safari windows.
I could keep listing but that one ain't ever going to win an originality contest.
Way overpriced.
