I can't find my earlier thread with the State Library Victoria pics.

Some more wartime pics , some in Melbourne.  The online photo descriptions are very vague.

U.S. army Jeeps parked in - could be Queen St ? Can anyone I.D. please ?  The location could be anywhere in Australia.

The photo description refers to: Martin and King,  trailer and Jeep.

M & K were a Melbourne auto body maker, specialising in expensive cars , Rolls Royce , Daimler and others. The trailer may have been a one- off special , built as a prototype.

You still saw these single wheelers around in the late 50's and 60's attached to a VW or similar small car. A neighbour with an early MGB used to tow one.

yeah, it's hard to pin down the location.  I found these pics of Queen St, Melbourne,  the centre street parking and the buildings look similar to the Jeep pic.

Queen st had no tram tracks and as far as I remember it’s the only CBD street that had parking in the centre but I may be wrong. Plus the Americans had a large facility close by at Royal Park.

You can see a tall spire in the background in the Jeep pic, which agrees with the two others pics. Or am I seeing things .

The photo with jeeps is, I believe in Queen street Melbourne, between Bourke and Collins looking south towards the Yarra river

The APA buildung was on the corner of Queen and Collins street

The APA building is this one
