I suppose after being vocal about a great idea in historic photos I should at least contribute!
Here's a few of Dads first Commer, the catalist to my obsession (that's Rachel's description, not mine :)
Taken around 1955 when he had just turned 19.......
As purchased from his brother - law Ken Porter (see the name on the door). Dads neighbour and life long friend, the late Viv Beazley, bought Dads 34 Chev tourer for the price of the truck so the old man could go into business!
Uncle Ken replaced his R7 that he sold to dad with this C7 fitted with a Rapple lazy axle. Here it is on it's maiden voyage. It's a petrol

Sorry for the average scanning job. Here's some after dad soon painted it...........
And not long after he started to subbying for J.T Woolley in Newcastle.........
And here's the old fella at 20 years old. Obviously I get my good looks from my Mum.......
Dad sold the truck in the late 50's and decided to stay local to be with the family. He ran his own business (ACME Carrying Company) for 25 years before a chance meeting saw him sell up and start working for Channel 10 in Sydney. He did this from the mid 70's until the mid 90's. This was his truck for that whole time........
This was built on a KM Bedford chassis and was originally powered by a 466 Bedford engine......gutless! It ran under a permit for the weight and it's replacement value was over $4 million when he retired. There were 6 imported to Oz. I did a lot of happy miles in this with Dad as a kid
