Do you have any info about that AEC Matador, especially when and where it was bought.?

The AEC Matador looks a bit like an ex DGT/PTC unit minus the crew cab and tow body.

Question is did it come from an Aussie military unit and if so how did it get into the country during war time. RW Brown were sold a lot(??) of these 2nd hand but where did they get them from?
