I wonder if they were paided by the mile or the case if it was by the case then the Bedford had 318 cases & the Inter had 348 cases now all we to know is the weight of a case. Dave

Hi, Hard work in thoes days, lots of old gear about working hard and sometimes overloaded to make it to market, I rember my dad with a little K model bedford loaded with lettuce in boxes, ninty to one hundred boxes was a normal load in summer and thirty dozen cabbages a load in winter, no bulk bins in them days and all hand loaded and unloaded. I remember the days that were good he was doing a load late at night ,come home we would load up again and he would be off in the early hours going back to market, the good thing was dad always used an agent to sell our crops so he didn't sit at the markets selling off the stand. We use to travel from the hills district to Ultimo about thirty miles.
I would get home from school and straight into helping and homework was not a priority with my mum & dad and I still managed to struggle through and get a trade and still in it, Charlie
