Re: Cannington -- PCT -- CCT -- PCT Road Lines P/L.

Here is Truck 6 in PCT Road Lines livery. The Cannington / Pacific Coast Trucking livery it arrived in back in 64 has gone and its in the new PCT Road Lines livery painted by Bruce Morton.
The twin stacks and the Caterpillar engine are also gone in favour of an NH250 Cummins putting it in line with the rest of the fleet with exception to KR who had an Ex Alltrans 352ST 8V71 in the Copper City Transport fleet.
It was Cummins Country and there was a nervous 8 Wheeler Hayes with a screamer (an 8V71 Swish :'() that got the same treatment.
Here they are here facing south with Victorian freight from Mt Isa, many many miles from outside the Melway.

Can anyone add anything about the Golden Fleece.
of course I'm not very good I've only driven in the dark

The Hayes was imported via the west coast and when Mack bought Hayes it was brought to MTA in Rocklea and bought by Frank Burke for the CCT operation.
Bernie Hart made a lot miles in the Hayes as did Max Hickey and others but I'm not clear on who.
I thought it was in the Dubbo area but told recently its now in Bourke.
I spoke to the guy who advertised it some years ago and he couldnt find out anything about it. Ask in the wrong places. He had felt better when he sold it and found out later what he'd let go. Poor Bu&&@.

Below Chris Manning photo again MTA Rocklea and the Hayes at Ballina, North Coast NSW where it went with Frank Burke and Rick Arndell to work on their developments in Ballina for some time before being sold off and I guess thats maybe when it ventured to QLD. I'd imagine Bruce Morton painted it when the tipper was fitted.

i talked quite a few years ago with frank catlin, who ran PCT's workshop in the heyday of it all and asked about his ''catbilt''..which was jokingly named after him as he was the bloke doing all the rebuilding of it ..and other units in the fleet as well.
he told me the story of how that it was in fact a rescue and repair of an ex AFL truck (351A sleeper rig ch/no 17789) that had come to grief with the next owner, a young bloke...with substantial underside damage to the truck when careening through a paddock full of tree stumps!...in amongst other damage. needless to say it ended up in ''cato's'' workshop for the next instalment in its interesting life, becoming unit number 5
wilko , who owns the truck now should be able to sight a chassis number if this account is correct, as it still has ally rails, etc
also another ex AFL peterbilt operated in with copper city transport and the first conventional operated by nick koery in that operation, being 351A ch/no 16437...the very first peterbilt conventional into service in aus. his second pete had a bit more mumbo for the job ..being the ex slaters 335 conventional 351 STL ch/no 19893 in amongst a couple more obscure petes so as can be seen, there had been plenty of these rigs pass through the gates of these firms over their time.
idstbc on all this stuff and also hope that helps...cheers

Detective, no worries with the pics mate, I think it is better to see all the pictures come up on the topic then have to click on the link, well done for getting them up on Imageshack in the first place though, you'll have to get Swishy around there to show you the trick to it all mate. All the best, Cam.

G'Day Detective and All,
Thanks for your contibution,
Glad you brought this up straight away, it reminded me of hearing about the truck that went off into the bush and had suffered a lot of damage underneath. Cant even remember the AFL part of it! I'd forgotten about it and then heard later of a (kind of glider kit) build up for it, using a new cab but I always wondered where the rails came from without following it up and then I went off the pulse with it for years as you know.
Its good to clarify how it came about with your info from Cato. I'd never asked him about it. More about 4 6 & 7. Straight from the horses mouth. I'll correct the post to bring it in line. Thank you D. I'm not presenting this as a fact. My intention is to do exactly whats happening here with throwing what we have up, telling what we know and have the corrections and additions flow in to paint the picture. This forum gives us the room to collectively build an account of what took place with these men and their equipment and create an interesting story for all. Please keep it coming everyone.
I have a few but not good shots of Nick Kooreys Peterbilt in the CCT lineup but not a full shot of it. I took a shot of what I think is Nick Kooreys 335 at Alice in an album but ruined with glare--Yellow square fenders with bunk STL. Did he buy it after Slaters?
Bigcam, thanks for the tip. Theres so many angles you can start from involving this story and lots of things youve been told are still in your head and not written down at the time. I chose to bite the bullet and kick it off this way float the photos in no real form so people could see the different liveries together as I didnt know how much time it would take to do it.
I didnt know how to post a picture this time last week. Angle-Iron steered me for about 10 mins over the phone and chocs finished me off with a few tips a few hours later and this is where I am.as there is so much we can all put up.
