Mr T do you have any contact with Southern Coast Transit as to what happened to the 4 Merc 303's they had. I can drop into their Mandurah office and ask for you if you need that info.

As a side comment by the time they left the Mandurah run there was not much life left in the old girls unfortunately.

Hi jms52,

I'm only aware of 3 O303s on the fleetlists that did the Perth to Mandy (Mandurah) run on the old 107, unless fleetlists is incomplete, then that additional info would be more than welcome.

The three O303s were:

1134 (now with Transwest)
1135 (now with Go West)
1136 (now with Transwest)

Images as credited, with thanks to perthbus.info:

Firstly, picture is from a book call Southern Star MB in Australia. Paul Roleff.

Came across this Westrail picture today. Somthing along the lines you were looking for?

Ya beauty, 70499.

That, as the caption reads, was a member of the first batch of O303s which had a Howard Porter body based on the original Mannheim body, but I do stand to be corrected.

Assuming it's the class leader, it could be former WAGR 121. Passengers later didn't like the curve at the top of the window, claiming too much sunlight was being inducted into the saloon, so shades were retrofitted by the WAGR/Westrail; personally, they look(ed) like an afterthought.

Here is former 121 in another life:

Here is a sister of 121 when "in-service" with the WA Govt, as this gives a good idea of how she would've looked:

Can you please give me more info on the book, please? It sounds like it could be a good read.
In the pic above the O303, the cowl/chassis is either an O305 (rigid) or an O305G (articulated) and going by the inlets on either side of the desto, I'm guessing it was for Action (ACT). The Merc artic was a pusher and has 4 hydraulic rams in the turntable to prevent it from jack-knifing. These rams were also strong enough to make the bus a true rigid, heavy vehicle lest the middle axle decided to say "Bar Leeze". Also, because of the rams, when (almost) doing the 100 clicks on the freeway, the rear ends would slightly fishtail, but this was negligable.

Cheers!

The book was released back in 2000 by MB Australia.
I can take a few pictures of other trucks/buses throughout the book if you like?
