Another good one Swishy, that is one of the ten.Ansett ran fleet numbers and the Kenworths seem to have started with 401 & I'm guessing 402 with the other single drive,403-12 was the ten and the final three would of been 413-15.The Coe was 416.
This was from a newspaper article, wished they'd put the full shot on.
Cheers James.

...just to keep us all guessing .. swishy's reply 62 shows an illustration of an ansett bogie drive and trailer...with 5 spoke hubs..( looks like rego IS3203 to me )... and these things are usually taken off a photograph, so it looks to me that this is one of the converted single drives, taken later on, with the 4 million miles under all of their collective belts

thanks swishy for presenting that beautiful story .. that is a wonderful snapshot of a long, bygone day
.. des was right in the thick of things way back then, but now i know why he was so sincerely heartfelt after the 2007 S model day, to present a lovely bottle of wine, as a gesture of appreciation ..

Yes Des Judd... What a great story!!! a insight to how it all was at the time. Thanks for putting that one up Swishy...
I'd like to hear more stories like that and also photos are most welcome by one-one willing to contribute to this thread. There has to be more photos of the Ansett S-models around.
Thanks for pointing that out about the illistration Detective,I guess the artist had a faulty pencil...
In addition to Detective's comment there,The first two Ansett S-model were quite distinctive even after they were converted. They had 5 spoke hubs and letter sets on the hood with a "seattle USA" badge.
The ten had 6 spoke hubs and a "kenworth" badge on the hood and no "seattle USA " badge.
The last three were the same as the ten,but a air horn in the middle of the roof and a battery/tool box mounted luber-finer (I'm not sure if all three were like this).
Cheers James
ps. They all had a GM diesel power badged put on here in Aust.

That article was written for (and pirated from ) one of the HCVC yearbooks. The current edition is 9 and previous years are available (well we are almost out of issue 1).
Des wrote that story for me to use in volume six (dated 2008). Along with a KW restoration story that is another good read.
