funny you mention that .. didn't want a repeat of the old oakgrove S model so did a few checks....

...emergency stop cable not connected to flap mechanism

...flap mechanism gummy and not free in operation

...emergency stop inner cable siezed inside outer cable

...emergency stop tag upside down ::) ::)

45 minutes later and plenty of attention on all these little bits etc. etc. .. felt OK about hitting the button...(greg did the honours) 8-) 8-) :) :)....cheers

g'day hayseed .. can make her roadworthy enough and feel confident to use the trade plate down to gregs but as i've asked ronny graham, to get club rego requires a full roadworthy..window glass, drive guards on a prime mover, locks, handles, seats and a lot of things that conspire to take up plenty of time...

i guess i'm just not there yet, with all the other things that take up space in life....cheers

g'day dieselman .. itching to know, that you may know a bit about the hunt oil trucks that came into the country ...and departed to parts unknown forever :'( :'( :'(

and.. jimmy there was a period of time (about 1965) when there was indeed ''no name'' covers and was just a part of the transition to the new style..the old oakgrove S model has these exact covers...cheers

Looks like there's no more contributers about the Ansett S-models....
Detective mentioned the two Hunt Oil Kenworths, they were pretty much next in Australia after the Ansett two single drives. 6X6 off highway trucks and were not sold through the Cameron dealership.
Maybe some-one out there may have some info on them as I don't have much on them. The story goes that when they were finished with here they were shipped overseas. Also Hunt oil may of had some imported LHD Kenworths as well...
Any contributers to this one most welcome....
Cheers James.

Yes thats a good one Swishy... and its the S-model that you guys purchased new. Here's the best photo around of a Ansett S-model.I thought it would be only fair to post the link to Warren's page rather than post his photo so this way Warren gets full credit for it..... Cheers James.

No Detective... The twin radiator type I think were a 953 or 984 and maybe V12 powered. The Hunt Oil pair were a 552 and 8V71 powered.
Thanks Detective...... Cheers James.

Trial Bay Haulage (Urunga NSW) operated three S-925s on tanker work and all 8V71 powered.Again the first one #100649 was quite distinctive from the other two with "kenworth" letter sets on the hood and 5 spoke hubs.
This will get Swishy going..... Cheers JOTS.
