Spot on Chocs (as usual..)
I reckon it was Teddy reynolds yard- just rings a bell. There was a shed on the yard, but we never used it. as Dad was only paying rent for yard space, not shed space!
Mario Brummniach I think had the Grey Ghost. It had "Grey Ghost" painted up on the visor, i didn't know whatit meant, but I remember dad telling me about how fast they used to go.
Yeah, Ewan had the Louie, it was a 903, but he dusted it, then they re powered it with a 6/92. Man that truck was rough...
And Kenny Irwins G88 must have been before my time I think. I remeber the black Scania 141, it got burnt to the ground, which I think was the best thing that ever happened to it!
There was a few other blokes too, but no one I can put a name to.
How did you know all that stuff Chocs?
Cheers
Richard

slospeed, thanks for your interest, I will put it in a nutshel and send you a message stick.
Prodrive, These are the type of honest stories that I love to read, sorry about the spuds, it was 1958 when I was doing it and the Top End was deveopeing rapidly with cold storage and regular storage enabling people to buy as needed, what I was doing probly wouldn't have worked later on. thanks for posting the story. I did post a bit about the last fatal trip I did, I thing about page 20 on the regular chat, some other bits that may interest you. if you log onto a Scottish site www.truck-photos.net scroll down to contributors under my name Ron Dingwall you will see a loy of my old pics, also a good site for other Aussie trucks.
A lot of books on transport are a bit self-promoting, an exception is Kurt johassen's book, "Son of the Red centre" told it like it was,my wife and I visited with him in the late '80's, his wife Daphne gave us our engagement party in Alice, she thought it was so romantic asked Kurt to put me on the Wall of fameof course Kurt had the pull, so I am not on there for having done anything of note, ticked a few people off I heard. tough, cheers
