HCVC (Sandown) show - change of date or venue

Sandown Racecourse have told the club that the venue is not available at all in November and offered a couple of dates in September

It will not clash with Echuca as the V8 Supercars are at Sandown for the Sandown 500 on the 2nd weekend in September and the V8s bring in a lot more money to Sandown then we do.

The committee are looking for a change of date or a change of venue bearing in mind they would prefer not to clash with someone else's event.

I spoke to the Prez to get the message out early so people didn't just automatically arrive at Sandown to find there was nothing there.

Having lived through a pandemic I now understand all the painting of fat people on couches!

Only new to this truck thing but having been to a few of these things
Just my preference is that where you can go and park and stay the day before is my choice
I know everyone will not agree with this :) :)

...why wouldn't everyone agree Geoff ?....it used to be EXACTLY that way at all the old HCVC shows...until the Sandown hiearchy got all uppity and has virtually strangled this very proud club regarding its yearly day out....

Every cloud has a silver lining (maybe). In the case of the HCVQ which held their show at Cleveland Qld for years but then got turfed off at short notice; They went to Gatton where the local council welcomed their show with open arms and lots of gratitude. Plenty of room, extended camping facilities, and secure at night.
Could do Climbing the New England in November and you wouldn't have to stand about in the rain. LOL

slasha,
I'm not up to or into the politics of it all (defective I noted your previous post..) but is echuca too far away from the mainstream melbourne guys that maybe it could combine the two??
when i went to echuca a couple of years back there was a s.itload of room

There's no dilemma as at this point in time we are looking at the 28th September, but if another venue became available then it could go back to November. We are looking hard at other options. There will be updates as they become available. Unfortunately for us Detective is right as Sandown have us over a barrel and are increasingly making it hard for the club.

Maybe a close rural area (Sunbury, Whittelsea Lilydale etc) would be an alturnative
Just my thoughts

September 27/28 is AFL Grand Final weekend. Not sure if that makes any difference. It is also usually the middle weekend of school holidays.
