New Event for Australia Day?

Had an interesting Idea the other day. Trying to think of an event that would have a big WOW Factor.

How about a Truck run to Canberra for Australia Day next year?

My Idea sort of goes along the lines of a run from Melbourne to Albury then into Canberra. Arriving in Canberra the day before Australia Day. Then have a commercial vehicle run through Canberra and then a display in the afternoon as part of the Australia Day festivities (will need a lot of organising early to get part of the program). Could also organise donation barrells around the vehicles similar to Mt Gravitt show with any mony raised goes to a charity.

Could invite the Historic Commercial Vehicle Associations from Sydney and Qld Commercial Club etc. Make it a really big event.

Look forward to any ideas / Support for such an Idea. An event that would have the potential to be so big would need the support of all our members. Because an Idea like this will only work if we get 100% commitment.

It sounds like a great idea to me. Australia Day will fall on a Saturday next year so either the Friday (or more probably the Monday) will be a public holiday making it a long weekend! ;)

The only query, which the Events coordinator may be able to answer, is if Lockhart will be on next year. If so a lot of the journey (melbourne - Albury) may be repeated with 6 weeks which may detract from the numbers attending.

If it was seen to be an issue we could use your idea but head another direction (Bendigo, Mildura, Horsham, Warrnambool, Bairnsdale/Lakes Entrance etc) and raise money for the local CFA.

Just a thought but I like the idea!

Having lived through a pandemic I now understand all the painting of fat people on couches!
