170715Sa Wentworth (NSW) Junction Rally: 1950 MG YA; Dodge Ambulance. (Roderick Smith)
The Dodge is based in Victoria, and appears at many rallies. It is driveable, and used to drive to most; now it is trailered to most/all. I had a very pleasant chat with the owner, about its history, but didn't write any notes.

It's a great rally, and very friendly. I have been to four, but this was the first where I was exhibiting my boat. Lots of machinery people trail from long distances. Because it is so far from Melbourne, the trucks were not ones which I have seen elsewhere: mainly local, some from NSW towns. Here is just one of the paddleboat photos, at full size, to give the mood. It shows about half the fleet; the other half were parading (and I was aboard one). The pool from weir 10 (Wentworth) through weir 11 (Mildura) to Karadoc, added to the pool up Darling River, provides ~150 km of reliable water, and continuing to SA is available in most seasons of most years. Many private paddleboats are based in the region, and they love to rally. Most are diesel, often with tractor engines and transmissions. The steamers at this rally were PS Ruby (a grand preserved passenger boat); PS Melbourne (tourist, from Mildura); PS James Maiden (dual Echuca / Wentworth) and assorted launches.
170715Sa Wentworth (NSW) Junction Rally - 11 boats. (Roderick Smith). The tiny one is powered by a Ronaldson Tippett: the theme engine for this rally. Left to right:

PV Daisy
PV Shay
PV Mosquito
PV Hyperion (two deck)
PV (Miralie
PV Final Endeavour
SWPV Rusty

170716Su Wentworth (NSW) Junction Rally: ~1983 Airstream 310 mobile home / campervan, imported from USA, and still left-hand drive. (Roderick Smith).
Surprisingly, the engine is stated as 7.4 L, and not in cubic inches.

170716Su Wentworth (NSW) Junction Rally: Trucks; Rolls Royce Meteor V12 tank engine. (Roderick Smith).
The engine was started at set times, with a warning that it would be very noisy.
