Hi,

There is a new version of this Forums software available that is long over due for being updated and while I have tried to keep it as similar as possible there shouldn't be any real issues for how you use it. However to give you a chance to take it for a test drive, grind the gears and kick the tyres you can find it at testsite1.hcvc.org.au/forum/index

It is based on a back up of this site taken on the 12th July so your current userid and passwords should work fine and an all posts are current up to that date. You can try creating a new post or replying to an existing one but any changes will be deleted in a week or so when this live Forum is updated and test Forum is deleted.

In addition to looking a bit different the new version appears to slove the issue of the first or last post missing in a thread and a couple of other bugs that need to be squashed.

Have a play and any questions or problems you find come back to here and let me know so I can look into them.

It opened with me as a guest but this is probably as intended.
I entered my name and password and it accepted them.
I had to click about three times before the first item would open but after that, all was well.

It looks good. Well done.

there is not much new functionality that will offer you anything more from what I have seen. The changes are more about the code working with more recent levels of software so things like the captcha(security question) will work again which means the Public Post area can be activated again and there are performance improvements that may or may not make you think there are a few more ponies under the bonnet.

As you can see the visual changes are relatively minor but I didn't want to drop them in without giving you a bit of a warning.

the advantage of the 4m over Face book is:
You can search back over 10 years ago....... if U kno what words to use etc ... it's all there :lol:
Only problem ... not the 4m fault but many pix dissappeared when the free pix posting sites (imageshack, PhotoBucket etc) cut the free bit out n many pix all gone from 4m ........ guess n nothing is for FREE

FaceBook U post a pic or info n within days it has all dissappeared into the face book dungeon n never 2 B seen again :woohoo:
