When this was first posted I thought the background looked a bit familiar but I saw the full size picture in the RACV magazine and can share a little story about that particular spot and type of vehicle.
In 2008 I managed to get my Moke stuck in the middle of that river on the Gibb River Road about 50-100 meters upstream from the crossing in the picture, which you can see in the full size image. The water going underneath the tyres just keep washing the sand away until the Moke floor was stuck on the river bed. One of these 4wd' Cattle Trucks' as we called them(you have to watch the Tourist climbing in and out of them to understand) came along but it was a privately owned rig not APT. We hooked up a rope, at an angle, and pulled on the Moke more less from where this cattle truck is pictured.
You would think it would be no problem, but the 4wd truck/bus was screaming as he worked the clutch tugging on the rope, which fortunately was nice and strong, and eventually the Moke let go of the river bed, they suction on with a flat bottom, and we were launched pretty much across the top of the water and landed on the riverbank. The truck driver was amazed it took that much grunt to remove the Moke and was getting worried about his front bar getting ripped off.
I have a picture somewhere of the Moke sinking in the river but not of the extraction process.

Bob,
I do not know how I got over the hill without ever getting to the top.

Another from a newspaper travel ad, and two from the 2013 Clunes Rally. I have had them in the events thread, but have now improved the tones for this thread.
