RE: pic ........ Q"? did Elizebeth St Sydney ever have a tram line
U can see the word Elizebeth St on th@ statue DooDadd

Three-wheel tractor of Australian Glass Manufacturers with trailer, c. 1930s.

In 1968 Crown Crystal Glass became partners with American company Corning Ltd., becoming Crown Corning Ltd. The partnership ended in 1988.

Google tells me
In 1926, AGM launched a subsidiary company - Crown Crystal Glass Pty. Ltd. - to produce crystal, cut, pressed and blown glassware (including pyrex) for industrial and domestic use. By the late 1930s, the company was producing 9,634 different types of glass bottles and containers.

In 1968 Crown Crystal Glass became partners with American company Corning Ltd., becoming Crown Corning Ltd. The partnership ended in 1988.

I'd seen the label, but couldn't focus on it. Yes, Elizabeth St had trams, from Circular Quay, past Eddy Ave (Central station) and on to the suburbs. I don't know where along it this park may have been, and Sydney tram people will have it top of head; I would have to hunt slowly.
Well done with the detective work, and now for the next 'Where'm I' photo.

Continuing the thread:
I have had conflicting advice re yesterday's photo: three-piece windscreen, so 'Vespa', condradicted by 'Lambretta'.
Googling on 'Vespa three wheel truck' brings up an album (no direct link available) with lots of photos, and with that rounded nose in both three-piece and one-piece windscreens.
Googling on 'Lambretta three wheel truck' brings up an album (no direct link available) with lots of photos. All are one piece, and the early ones have a more-square snout.
Conclusion: it was a Vespa, and so is this.
I can't bring up the name on the panel, and what could be a badge could well be a headlamp.

Who said the old generation had no sense of humour.

The story of the Elizabeth Street Obelisk - No it is not a war memorial.
History[edit]
Unveiled in 1857 by the then Lord Mayor, George Thornton, it served as a sewerage duct vent to allow the escape of noxious gases from the sewer (although it now ventilates the stormwater system, following works to separate Sydney's sewerage and stormwater systems).[2] The Hyde Park Obelisk was the first special sewer ventilation shaft built in Sydney and New South Wales, and is the only example of a sewer ventshaft constructed of sandstone within the Sydney Water system.[2] It was modeled on Cleopatra's Needle on the banks of London's River Thames. The overall structure is 22 metres (72 ft) high, which comprises a square sandstone base 6.5 metres (21 ft) high. The vent at the top is a filigreed bronze pyramid.[3]

On 7 November 2014, the Hyde Park Obelisk was covered with a giant pink condom as a temporary installation to raise awareness about HIV, primarily in Sydney's homosexual community.[4][5]

It is also jokingly referred to as Thornton's Scent Bottle.[6]

Great extra material. Since the obelisk was a gas vent, did the ceremonial condom inflate progressively, or was there an unprototypical vent hole out of sight at the tip?
On my first leave from national service, we were all issued with military green condoms: stapled to a backing card.
When Choice did a report on condoms, it noted that the Austalian standard is inflation to 1 L without bursting. It commented 'Is this a realistic standard?'.

Another of the obelisk. I'll place the link with horses too.

If looking for the oblisk on a map it's at the intersection of Bathurst and Elizabeth Streets.

I've walked past it hundreds of times (it's just near the Downing Centre Courts) and never given a single thought to what it was about.

Now I know.

I'm still working on the id of the Vespa vs Lambretta, and am sticking with Vespa.

170517W Ankara (Turkey): Hotel Etap Mola, Arçelik three wheel truck, now a novelty icecream bar. (Roderick Smith)

The type was based on a Lambretta.
See Arçelik Triportör < www.3wheelers.com/arcelik.html >
This is just part of a comprehensive site < www.3wheelers.com >. Strangely, the site has missed Vespa.

Rodderick,

A little Googling tells me it's a Lambretta.

Arcelic appear to have assembled them.

It's full title is Arcelic Triportor.
