Talking about expensive. The NSW number plate 4, sold for 2.5 million last week to a Chinese buyer. The seller only bought it 12 months ago for 9.5 grand. Tidy little profit. I remember when I was about 8 years old the dentist in Argyle St Parramatta had #3 plate on a Austin A30.

Oldon,

I take offence at your comment about honesty.

Some of us earned our financial position honestly and paid our due taxes.

I must have done something wrong. A while ago, when I was talking to younger Daughter about work, she was incredulous when I told her that from the age of 17 until over 70, I worked between 40 and 100 hours every week and did not splash money around, yet I still have less than the value of an average house to my name.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

The QANTAS leprechaun could buy it out of this year's pay but it would leave him pretty short with only 2.5 million left to get him through till Xmas.

Incredible that the McLaren F1 posted 0 to 100 of 3.2 seconds which at the time was considered mind blowing.
Today at a fraction of the cost you can drive away in a R35 GTR.
The 2017 model's figures aren't published by Nissan but way back in 2013 she had a 0 to 100 of 2.7 secs with everyday motoring journos posting consistent 3.0 second times.
That's quick.

Strange that a Chinese buyer would pay so much because they regard 4 as an unlucky number.

As for the 9.5 grand, these single and two digits plates have been trading on the open market in 6 figure dollars for a few years now.
