For the benefit of those of you not lucky enough to live in my beautiful part of the world, including Brocky45, DimaUkraine and Eightpot, The First day of September is the official start of the Spring season here.
Dunno about that, but for us living 'up-over' the evenings are drawing in and it is getting a bit chilly at times.

I dunno mate!
Eightpot,
I have never heard the term "Up Over" before, I think you made it up but it does make sense as people from your part of the world say we are "Down Under."
Some years ago when my Daughter was in her early 20's, she and boyfriend went to London on youth working holiday visas, arriving in London in October (early in our summer) She got a job handing out event brochures and wrote to her Grandmother asking for a knitted beanie with flaps to cover her ears as she was so cold! She was conscious of her appearance but certainly no fashion plate but was happy to wear the beanie in public. By the way, the most common response she got when offering the leaflets to people was "Get F....d." She soon quit.
I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

This is another absolutely true one:-
A year ago, Wife and I moved house. Three mates helped me move the furniture on the truck owned by one of them. The youngest of us was 69 and the oldest, 79.
As we finished, the oldest asked me "Are you ever going to move house again?"
I started to say something like "I don't know yet" but then I thought of this reply:-
Yes, I will move one more time but that time I will lie still in my wooden overcoat and let someone else do the work"
I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!
