Sometimes Sayings.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

PDU,
It was nearer sixty years ago, not fifty, when I pulled the motor out of my Vauxhall with a rope! block tied to the branch of a tree in the yard of my parents (rented) house. After the motor was rebored, I managed to put it back in the same way but did not know enough about timing, so start it. My mother towed me down the street with the family van and of course, the Vauxhall started outside a small row of shops. I and everyone else in the area instantly found that I had forgotten to tighten the exhaust to manifold nuts.

I was being gentle with the years Morris, another two or three years and I could have safely said sixty years.
Heaviest engine and box I lifted in my "learning" days on that wig-wam structure was an Oldsmobile Rocket V8 and heavy cast iron automatic - destined for a "46 Ford Sedan Delivery (panel van) which I had lifted onto a '48 Ford Sedan chassis using screw jacks, assorted timbers and 40 gallon drums. It's a wonder I ever survived as long as I have!?

At 17, FJ Holden with a blown piston. Two wheels either side of the dirt table drain out the front of home. Head, tie-rod, sump and whatever else off, piston out. Second hand piston and rings, re-use the head and sump gaskets, then back together. All done in one day as I had a date that night. Turned out a waste of time, the date not the "fix".

I made a huge To-Do list for today, I just can't find out who is going to do it.

I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.

A funny thing about growing older is that as your eyesight gets weaker, your ability to see through other people's bullshit becomes stronger.
