I remember that cartoon when it came out, principally because my brother at that time lived in Tamgambalanga, nestled in the Kiewa Valley, in the shade of Mt Bogong, and most importantly in the shire of Yackandanda . . . or something like that he used to regularly spout off?
I think it was a local thing as on my first visit to him I had misplaced his address so went to his old house where on enquiring where he had moved the three people talking there answered in unison, each saying a different place - "Yackandanda", "Kiewa", and "Tangam" (short version and/oror general placement of his new house)!

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

If your lips would keep from slips,
Five things to observe with care,
To whom you speak; of whom you speak;
and how, and when, and where.
Attributed to William Edward Morris. (Not the William Morris of the cars fame, and not the William Morris of the artwork and design fame but another one)

Thanks Morris it is fantastic advice for a better world.
Unfortunately as the years pile on, my adherence to this life plan has been modified by experience. While I try to avoid the ignorance of the DILLIGAF brigade I find myself saying what I think more often. I don't know if it is good or bad but I must admit I have had a smile at the reaction of some new-age entitled person whose feelings I have "hurt" by a home-truth comment.
Last one was being told by the hostess at a dinner party that I would not be asked back again while her husband standing behind her had a huge grin with two thumbs in the air.

In his later years, W.C. Fields (born William Claude Huberfield) became a very heavy drinker and took a flask which he insisted contained only pineapple juice, to work on the movie set with him every day. One day a couple of fellow workers played a trick on him.
He bellowed "Hey, somebody has put pineapple juice in my pineapple juice."

I remember that terrible time in the Punjab when somebody forgot the corkscrew and we had to survive for days on food and water.
