I think the Chinese are well on the way to sorting it out. What we used to call Phillips Head screwdrivers, they call Plus Head screwdrivers and what we call Plain or blade screwdrivers, they call Minus Head screwdrivers. Poor old MG cars, the epitome of British sports cars, which since 1924 stood for Morris Garages, is now owned by Chinese and stands for Modern Gentleman.

The Americans are catching up, what the rest of the world calls Castleated nuts, they call Cake nuts. They have many of their own names for food items, including what we call Sultanas, they call Raisins. (I don't know what they call raisins) Our fruit salad is a dessert dish made of fruit, while in America, it is a lettuce salad with a few slices of fruit on top. What we call the Main course at a meal, they call the Entree. They obviously do not know it is a French word. Speaking of French words, near where I used to live and still  pass at least twice a week, is the Quays Motel. We call it by the French pronunciation "Keys", while American tourists call it the "Kways."

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

The new names for female and male threads can be Innies and Outties.

See I was even chivalrous putting the Innies first.

Since a politician never believes what he says, he is always surprised when other people believe him.

This happens to me as well Morris, I typed something out about John Laws popping his clogs the other day and well it just disappeared

I always liked Lawsy and was pretty cranky when the post vanished

Anyway some of John Laws albums

I have the one with the Diamond T trucks

Was a write up about the album in the "Truck and Bus" magazine from back in the day
