This week a couple of sayings from the detective novel by Reginald Hill that I am reading at the moment:-

It's better to have ten bob to spend than a quid to bequeath.
(Brocky45 and Someguy, think ten dollars to spend rather than twenty to bequeath)

An innocent person will have a poor alibi but a guilty person will say "I was in bed asleep at the time and I can provide six witnesses to swear to it."
I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

Would you like to be my friend?

You would be the normal one.

There are 3 types of people, people that make things happen, people that watch things happen and people that wake up and say what the hell happened.

There are three types of people, those who can count and those who can't.
