Hi Steve,
This answer is not helping you ID this machine,
but I reckon that the picture is reversed.

I reckon Rolls Royce might be not too far off.

Both below are earlier models with old cowl. The one in question looks 30's

Here is another one with wire wheels.

Here is the one at Alice Springs airport/ Same one?

Lang,
Bit hard to see but both those look like the cowl below the windscreen curves up.
This appears to have a round badge on the radiator and the headlights are mounted on fairly tall posts.
Cheers Steve
Bit of Googling with your info and think you may have it,The radiator surround and lights match laet 20's RR's, just need to narrow iit down.

I did a quick search yesterday, and like Lang I used "1930 Rolls Royce" for my search. Interestingly I also baulked at the wheels, and (combined with the late hour and falling asleep over the keyboard ) decided to not continue. :S

Remember ,RR didnt make the bodies ,so the radiator ,bonnet and cowl might be the same......The wire wheels are Rudge Whitworth ,so again RR didnt make them .I recall some years ago there was thing on telly about an old guy had a pair of RR utes for his firewood business.probably the 70s.

Some here may remember Col Mc Leod who had a truck sales yard on Ipswich Rd ,next to Mc Grath Trailers, had two big RR utes in the front of his shed.....The 6 cyl motor was around 7 .Im fairly sure his two had wire wheels tho .Long time ago.

Following on from Lang's suggestion, could be pre 1920 RR, there are some with wooden spoked wheels with two different versions. Seems the rears had more spokes.
Couple of pic's of military ones with wooden spokes rear and wire on the front. Seems to have been a real mix and match.
Early RR it is.
Thanks Steve
