Hi,

in a conversation today with someone about COVID stuff in general they asked what sort of restrictions or rules do interstate truck drivers have to follow that allows them to cross the borders and generally keep things moving.

Anybody have some first hand knowledge of what's involved.

Terry

Was only talking to my neighbour today about what he has to do to cross the Qld and S.A. borders that he ahs been doing. Apart from the usual border pass he now has to be covid tested once a week and all those border passes that have expired he must keep them with him no matter which truck he may be driving but he is in the same truck always.

There's an article in the most recent Gearchange magazine, that tells a couple of interstate truck drivers Border Crossing experiences

"Be who you are and say what you feel...
Because those that matter...
don't mind...
And those that mind....
don't matter." -

I was recently at a Truck Stop cafe in suburban Adelaide and got a very ordinary coffee (@ a very extraordinary price).
They had a HUGE blow-up of an SA Gov interstate drivers "Information Summary" on the wall.

Strike a light,
every second phrase was either;
"should, shall, can only, may only, must, will, except and unlesses' in the text.
Glad I don't have to figure all that out (and drive the bloody truck too).

I don't think most people (myself included) outside of Europe really understand just how busy and big road transport is over in Europe

Theres well over a million semi trailers operating in a area less than half the size of the US or Australia

From some quick googling the semi trailer density is more than the US per square kilometer

So it wouldn't take long for huge queues to develop

Hope they get it all cleared soon

I m no expert to this but every time I have seen a semi trailer open the back doors the bloody thing is only half full. No wonder they have so many rigs on the road.
