My dear friend Leng!
I am extremely grateful to you for such a profound analysis and historical overview. Your pragmatic approach actually provides logical answers to some geopolitical transformations.
If I had not witnessed the daily suffering of my people, I too would be able to explain current events so dispassionately. However, every day I see and hear tragedies that cannot leave me unmoved.
But, in my opinion, you are somewhat exaggerating the power of fascist russia. We are fighting barbarians for whom the meaning of life is not to develop, but to make neighbouring peoples live worse than their own population.
Of course, there is a risk that the madman putin could use nuclear weapons and that the unpredictable Trump would respond, which I doubt. However, living in constant fear and uncertainty is sometimes much worse than radical action.
Another, more humane approach could be proposed: deporting all members of russian ruling families and officials from European countries, the US and other comfortable countries back to their fascist homeland, deporting russian oligarchs and freezing their assets, and finally, the complete isolation of russia from the world, following the example of north korea.
As for Australia's support, believe me, Ukrainians appreciate it and are extremely grateful for it.

Thanks for the reply.

I can see how somebody involved daily in the results of war and violence can not stand back and look at events as just another disaster in the sad history of mankind. The further away the less personal it becomes until you reach international level of support and participation being not for the people dying but principle, political alliances and maintaining a buffer against attack on their own country or allies .It seems ridiculous to call Ukraine "lucky" in their position but the political situation is such that the strongest economies in the world have come to your aid largely out of self-interest - particularly the EU countries. Why, out of all the wars happening right now and maybe millions dying yearly are all those others treated as a humanitarian disaster while Ukraine is being supported with billions of dollars in both finance and military assistance as a wartime ally? The West is deeply invested in what happens in Ukraine and are desperately trying to keep it contained.

A NATO war would be a disaster for the whole world. Every day now Russia becomes weaker and Europe becomes safer because of Ukraine sacrifices. If they can get Russia gradually to a point their economy can not support a war and have them give up "gracefully" without triggering a huge, violent insane invasion of Europe or nuclear madness that is the best they can do.  Not fair but, as Mark Twain said, "Nobody ever lost by betting on self interest"

One thing I have learnt in my travels over the years is that the vast majority of people of whatever nationality, race or religion only want to have a happy life, feeding and educating their children without fear of their government or some form of commercial "slavery".

I have driven 3 times across Russia from Vladivostok or Mongolia to Europe, not on a tour but with my wife in our own car. I found the Russian people to be willing to give you the shirt off their back, the poorer they were the more they wanted give. The closer to the cities the more authoritarian and corrupt they became (certainly not all). The power in Russia is held by quite a large cohort of political and business criminals. The lower ranks all have their snouts in the corruption and petty-power trough. Human life has never been of much importance to Russians, particularly their own people. From murderous Czars and Nobles, to Stalin who killed millions (including starving millions of Ukrainians to death) and who knows how many in the modern era?

I spent a few months in Ukraine some years ago organising motor cycle sidecar trips and unfortunately found society there to be a mirror image of Russia. The man in the street was as open and friendly as anywhere in the world suffering from a corrupt political hard line government. I would like to visit again to see the results of what seems to have been a fairly rough road since the 2014 Maidan events. As an outsider I think it will take some time for Ukraine to say that their administration and social interactions are fully compatible with a borderless Europe (even with all their differences). Ukraine must succeed against Russia to allow it to continue to throw off those generations of a tyrant's domination to become a truly free and democratic state..

Those russians who are ready to give away their last penny act selectively and only when they are sober. You should see what happens to those same russians when they drink vodka.
I will give you a fundamental difference between Ukrainians and russians: when a Ukrainian woman loses a child, she loses everything, but when a russian woman's child dies at the front, new opportunities open up for her because she receives money for her son's death! You can find hundreds of real videos on this topic!
In general, I would be happy to meet with you in Ukraine and discuss the changes that are taking place here!
Of course, I may be dissatisfied with my own government, and when it crosses the line, we take to the streets and protest. Now, due to numerous corruption scandals, there is a possibility of such protests, but the ongoing war is holding back this desire.

The 1,471st day of the Ukrainian people's war against russian fascists.
Against the backdrop of the war in Iran, the world's attention to the war in Ukraine has diminished. However, according to the media, the United States has turned to us for help in shooting down Iranian drones. The news reports that Ukrainian specialists are being invited to help shoot down Iranian drones in the Arab countries and Israel!
This raises a logical question: has our war already ended? Are our military specialists ready to fight in a second war? Look at these photos of a Ukrainian city destroyed by Russian fascists. Our country is attacked every day by the drones of russian bastards, peaceful Ukrainians are dying every day, and there are no signs of the war ending.
And I worked at a volunteer centre between classes.

The 1,472nd day of the Ukrainian people's war against russian fascists.
Today and yesterday, Ukrainian soldiers returned from russian captivity. They are exhausted, and some are in serious condition. russian captivity completely disregards international rules for the treatment of prisoners of war. russian executioners are torturing Ukrainian soldiers, and no international organisation is intervening. Representatives of the International Red Cross say that the russian authorities are not allowing representatives of the organisation to visit Ukrainian prisoners. What an explanation for their own incompetence and selectivity! Help those who need it!

The 1,473rd day of the Ukrainian people's war against russian child murderers.
Last night, russian bastards launched a combined strike on critical infrastructure in Ukraine using strike UAVs, land-based and sea-based missiles. A total of 509 air attack weapons were recorded:
- 2 Zircon hypersonic missiles;
- 13 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles;
- 14 Kalibr cruise missiles;
- 480 Shahed, Gerber, Italmas and other types of strike UAVs, about 290 of them being Shaheds.
The main targets of the attack were Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi and Chernivtsi regions.
According to preliminary data, 472 targets were shot down – 19 missiles and 453 drones of various types:
- 8 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles;
- 11 Kalibr cruise missiles;
- 453 enemy UAVs of various types.
Nine missiles and 26 strike UAVs were recorded hitting 22 locations, and downed UAVs (debris) were recorded falling in five locations.
As a result of another russian terrorist attack on the city of Kharkiv, 11 Ukrainian civilians were killed, including two children. The russian child-killers' missile hit a five-storey residential building, and the rubble is still being cleared as there may be people under the debris.

The 1,474th day of the Ukrainian people's war against russian fascists.
russia has once again done what it does best. Killing. Destroying. Wiping out other people's lives.
russian missiles and drones struck Ukraine. In Kharkiv, a missile hit an ordinary five-storey residential building. Not a military base. Not a weapons depot. A house where people were sleeping, where kettles stood on the kitchen stove, where children's toys lay on the windowsills.
Ten people died.
This is not a ‘mistake.’
This is not ‘collateral damage.’
This is the russian war.
russia is not fighting armies — it is fighting cities. Entrances. Children's rooms. Hospitals. Electrical substations.
This country has no strategy except terror. No future except destruction.
Every night like this is a reminder of a simple fact: russia as a state has long ceased to be a political entity. It is a death factory run by people for whom the killing of civilians is a political tool.
And every time someone talks about ‘negotiations,’ ‘understanding russia's interests,’ or ‘war fatigue,’ all you have to do is show photos of yet another destroyed house in Kharkiv.
This is the ‘russian world.’
A five-storey building without a wall.
Bodies under concrete slabs.
And silence after the sirens.
russia has nothing to offer the world but fear, ruins and graves.
And that is why the outcome of this war is not just a matter for Ukraine.
It is a question of whether the 21st century will be a time of civilisation or a time of unpunished barbarism.

The 1,476th day of the Ukrainian people's war against russian fascists.
This morning, russian bastards launched an air strike with three guided bombs on the central part of the city of Sloviansk. Two people were killed and 11 wounded, including a 14-year-old girl.
Trump announced the lifting of sanctions on energy resources in order to stabilise oil prices worldwide, which will allow fascist russia to increase its finances to continue the war in Ukraine, while Ukrainian specialists in destroying Iranian drones were invited to defend American military bases! Is this normal???
At the same time, russian Paralympians were allowed to carry their flag at the Paralympic Games, and russia is returning to the Venice Biennale, where it will have its own pavilion. I have no logical explanations, only negativity!!!
