ask a Pom, a scott amd an Irishman to say the same words and you will have the same polem. Closer tohome is our neighbours in NZ and ourselves just going the the vowels alone is a grin.
Ask a Kiwi to say 6UL DV8.

If you had of asked Peter Brock to pronounce Bathurst he would he have said Bathhurst.

For some reason Victorians don't like the correct pronunciation.

A mate of mine has the surname Trengove. People call ion TrengRove. They tell him it is easier to say.

Sorry Geoff.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

Victorians can’t say Castlemaine correctly, they say Casselmaine. But then again they are Mexicans.

Oh the lack of education in southern states!

Queenslanders know Portmanteau (Port for short) comes from the French Porter- to carry and Manteau - a coat

I think Terry should hive this off on another thread if he has the time.
