Or Harvey Bay, full of newlyweds and nearly deads.I lived in the western suburbs of Sydney in the early 70s and remember the sharpie gangs used to terrorise punters on the trains at night. I think they were evolved from the skinheads and all had haircuts number 1 on top and long at the back, sort of like an anaemic mullet.
Growing up in northern, Sydney at that time, we just called them "Westy's"
Now they’re called Bogans
With $ydney's west going all yuppified these days, guess they needed a name change, moving on to places like the Central Coast or Newcastle. Which brings me to "Coasties"
Which brings me thinking of places like Port Macquarie and similar that “older” people seem to congregate too, being known as God’s waiting room”.

A customer once asked where I lived and told him Coopernook. He said the same thing to me, Gods Waiting Room. I looked around and told him he was living in a Cemetry with the Lights on.
