even a lot of the facebook groups are not as busy as they have been in the past. Maybe people are over sharing everything?

Don't think so, tjinking the financial squeeze means people haven't got the spare coin floating about to progress with projects

Paul I don't see that, when I work in the local Factory's the young Tradie's and factory workers all drive in in their $70,000 Utes with $20,000 worth of extras and buy $20 morning tea and $25 or $30 lunch after walking in with a $10 coffee in the morning. When I was a young Tradie I drove to work at Jenolan caves in a $100 VW that I had to do laps around the car park to get warmed up enough to get up the hill, when I brough the block with a old hut I could not get a home loan so end up on commercial overdraft which end up at 27.5 percent when interest rates went to 17.7 per cent the only way I could keep the block with the old hut was to go interstate truck driving doing 2 Brisbane's one week and 3 Melbourn's the next and chucked the odd 3 Brisbane' every now and then, I wasn't on my own everyone around me was doing the same probably including you I would guess, Today they all whine to anyone who will listen so don't listen, best thing they can do is get of their arsess and do some work, talk about bleeding bloody hearts.

over 20 years ago when I was living and working in Melbourne I remember reading a letter to Editor where the person was complaining that she had taken out a mortgage to cover a new flat in Toorak as her first home and the new furniture to go with it and a 5 series BMW to go with it. The mortgage rate rise of 0.25% meant she was going to need a second job to pay for it and it was irresponsible of the government to let interest rates get so high!
I have noticed a lot of people don't get the concept of saving and instead buy everything on credit. I don't think the tap and go cards help as people don't see the money leaving their wallets! I also wonder about staff in stores who cannot work out change and other simple mathematics. If they can't do maths how are they going to be able to manage their money.
I have seen people doing the buy morning tea, lunch and dinner everyday then wonder how come they can't save to buy a house! They don't think to make lunch at home and take it with them. Also those same people seem to think if the first property they own isn't their dream home they have failed. They don't get the concept of buying something affordable and working your way up as you can afford it. I have never owned my dream home and probably never will as the dream home keeps changing over time as your needs change

Having lived through a pandemic I now understand all the painting of fat people on couches!

And ya want not-funny ...council has served me with a notice to remove any of my trees overhanging the footpath.......and these guys (Tree Scape) refused to do it ,as it wasnt on their work sheets ..........how-ever ......a Tree Scape rep will come around and give me a quote.
This is the same council that 5 years ago wouldn't let you cut any trees down.......

Jarrod.

Some fifty years ago, Carlton or North Melbourne Council (I do not know which it was) forced shop owners in Lygon and other streets to remove verandahs because they looked "ugly" and less than ten years later the same Council made owners of Victorian buildings replace the verandas because the shops looked "wrong" without them.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

Over the last couple of days I have been have a good think about what I posted above, and the reality is I think if you were not doing the drugs and keep things tidy the RTA and the Victorian and Queensland counter parts cut you a fair bit of slack if you appeared to be handling it, they could not have been that stupid, I ran a NSW log book one week and a Queensland one the next, in hindsight that must have stuck out like dogs balls, there was a few in NSW that were at teck doing  the mechanic course when I was doing electrical that I would bump into, who clearly could not read they would look at the book and hand it back. Then there was one at Hornsby who I had never seen in my life one night who spent 40 minuets going though the logbook pointed out all the things wrong and red lined about half the pages handed it back and said best thing you can do is lose that in the next couple of days and sent me on my way, yet there were blokes around me that were getting hammered maybe they could pick the Drugs or signs of them or maybe just it was just how you appeared and spoke, I was always clean and tidy and so was the truck and load

Recent story about a driver on historic plates who he will tell you, in spite of a history of self inflicted calamities, is always right and gets abrasive if you tell him different. He got a defect relating to gash on inside sidewall of trailer tyre, and given a day to get to stated destination in another state. (obviously got to the point where inspectors wanted to cause some pain) Anyone else would say gee thanks for spotting that and change the tyre on the spot but instead ended up owner of the trailer having to bobtail to his trailer and get it to a station to get the defect lifted. How reputations are made.

Was thinking, years ago it didn't seam to matter what was googled remotely transport related every reply on the search for the first half a dozen results had HCVC at the beginning

Now virtually nothing

I wonder if the forum changes and updates have a effect on these search results

If so does that have a effect on the forum, good or bad

Forums are a bit yesterday, it's only we, dinasoars still using them. All three of the fora I frequent are quiet.
Despite being old hat, fora are superior to the modern competition as historic content can be  more easily revived and reviewed.
Forums are also a friendlier venue, where playfu digs are more likely taken (and given) in the humorous manner offered.
That might be more of demographic thing than platform related.
