Better bring this to a conclusion.
Apart form playing around with different wooden stake side finishes, sign writing and rego in a couple of weeks. I'm calling this truck done.
Some extra clearance tray lights or reflectors will no doubt be needed to pass rego.

Looks real neat. As the tray is wider than cab you will need clearance lights, number dependent on length of tray. Vic Rhodes usually gave us a link to the relevant regulation. Good idea is to use the neat little LED ones and to put them under the tray and not on the side where they have a habit of getting wiped off or crushed by forklifts.

That's come up neat as a pin, looking the goods
LED lights are the go for reliability and I find there is a pretty good selection of older style LED lights to suit just about everything

Great work

Thanks so much everyone for your comments. Looks like a trip to HyWay truck parts before heading back to Victoria.

Make sure the ones you buy are 12/24v. Reason is those one can be wired and are not polar sensitive. Some cheap LEDs are polar sensitive.

"Labour Day, which falls on the second Monday in March every year in Victoria, commemorates the achievements of the labour movement in the 1850s, when stonemasons and building workers marched to demand an eight-hour workday."

RoKwiz,
We Victorian's thank your forebears for this day of celebration. :-)

Thought a little update on the Trader was warranted as it has been running ok but smoking via the breathers to much for road use.
Suspected rings or valves seals.

I knew this engine should have been rebuilt before it went to far on the build but I needed it on certain jobs leading up till now.
Compared to the smaller 4 cyl Mazda / Perkins this engine can be rebuilt inframe so makes it even handier than I thought.

The two piece sump is hard to get your head around, the top section in alloy seems to act as a crank scrapper. I will see if I can replace the crank bearings by spinning them one at a time.In the same fashion as a larger truck but so far they appear to be fine (no serious freeplay)

Head will need a good cleanup

Pistons and rods being knocked out from below.

to be continued....

Number 1 and 4 pistons seem to be the worst with lots of skirt damage and rings stuck to one side but they all be replaced along with the liner sleeve anyway.

Plenty to clean and check while I wait for the rebuild kit.
