Driving out through Silverdale today I spotted this White Super Power garden art. Upon seeing the traffic hand above the drivers door immediately identified it as one of the old Trailer Tours bus

And in all that time, no one pinched the hub caps....  but gee, the paint has faded.

MrsMack as soon as I noticed the hand signal I was almost sure it was an old trailer tours bus that I used to see in Parramatta when I was a child, so I stopped on the way back to photograph it. He has a few 1948 Austin’s as well.

Hi,

how many of these trailer tour set ups were there, or just one?

I wonder if any of the trailers survived.

Just looking at the luggage rack

Today it would require for the driver.

Working at height certificate.
Full harness with clip in safety straps.
Safety watcher on the ground.

For the bus

4 foot high safety rails along roof
Tie-down points for straps on luggage or full load bearing tarp with in built straps.

I think there was at least 4. I remember going on a Sunday school picnic in one, the driver ( Jimmy Whitten) let me travel in the cab with him. I thought I was king of the kids. He obviously left a lasting impression on me, seeing I still remember his name after all these years.

I used to see these around when I was about 8-10.

I always wanted to ride in one, but alas it didn't happen.
