I just got caught out trying to help somebody. I was looking at a 1939 ex-army 6 cylinder Vauxhall as a bit of a novelty for my military passion. It is painted with red guards as all the vehicles in the pommy bomb-disposal units carried.
The elderly owner also had a 1946 Oldsmobile he wanted gone. What a nice luxurious car. Can be used as is but requires interior clean up. I contacted a "mate" who fell over himself to get the car so I sent him 20 photos and got the firm buy order. So paid for both cars and also paid for a tilt tray to get them home.
Of course when I called him to pick it up, old mate, without the slightest embarrassment in his voice says" I talked to my wife and we have agreed I really don't need another car".. Apart from one less person at my next cocktail party I now have a 1946 Oldsmobile for sale. Quite a bit more power and comfort than a Chevrolet or Ford. $15,000 buys it.
