The smell of old machinery

Hi all , you probably think I am going a bit loopy, but I was just outside, having a beer with my best new mate, a rusty old Dodge D5N .
I was thinking about all the things I would have to do to her to knock her back into something I will be proud of , when I suddenly was aware of her "perfume" .
The smell of old grease, diesel, and dirt, quite a heady mix really.
I was thinking of the stories that old truck could tell,if she could only talk.
Suddenly the cold jolted me out of my reverie, that and the thought of how much it's going cost me to fix it !
regards Harleigh :)

yep the stories that old trucks could tell..like the time i was young & stupid and had my acco in angle gear fully loaded was doing at least 150km/h
..the cost of restoring a old "bomb"isnt to bad as long as your standards arnt to high..for example taking the cab on my mercedes back to metal/welding the rust/rust proofing/etch primer-undercoat & top coat was less than $1000 sure it may not be show quality but id hate to guess how much a panel beater would of charged me to do the same

Harleigh,

I know what you mean, mate! I have that very heedy smell of grease, diesel and dust well ahead of me if I'm ever gonna get me finger out and organise something to do on weekends! I was just thinkin' that, if you fellas can get up/over, we could play a great game - the game they call paintball! Have a think!!!

Angle grinder, Tig and fishoil.
I reckon rust was on the option sheet when you purchased new over here....as they say on a still night you can hear it.
