Leylands

Incredible how a project can 'grow'.
I started this LAD Leyland a few years ago. (a replica of a rig that used to roam the roads of NZ).

This is my 2nd attempt. (a mate bought my first).

(next) the trailer...

(then), I thought I'd have a crack at the bigger Leyland, (I used to go riding in).

It wasnt till I added the trailer, (I realised) This is a becoming a bigger project.

(then), the project 'really grew'.
An AEC,

A Scammell,

(the fleet lined up)...

(I wasnt happy with the Scammell cab),
So, started on the Crusader...

(& trailer)..

So, 1 Leyland, became 5. (Still deciding on the 2 LAD loggers, Albion, & 2 old Commers)

I have what may appear to be a silly question, but what is the cylinder on top of the Leyland cabs? In the first shot I saw (the fleet photo), I assumed it was a rolled up swag on top of the cab.

Great work, no wonder your mate bought one of the models.

They mounted the air cleaners on the roof of these 2. (I presume there wasnt sufficient space to mount them anywhere else).
They sounded bloody awesome coming down the road.
