Hi Everyone. Well its been over 20 years since I've built a truck model and its time I got back into it. Some of your pics on this topic has fired me up. :)

So I recently bought this Aerodyne model. Great detail, removable roof, opening doors working steering etc.

Ive decided on blue for chassis, silver for cab, but I need help with correct engine colour and interior colour. I want to try and get it as realistic as possible.

Its supposed to be a Cummins engine. Is the correct colour light or dark grey?

How many interior colours did the Aerodyne come with and what were they?

I've already started on the chassis and I will post some pics soon.

Regard Stew.

Hi Stew, here's a site that has a bit of info on trucks, it's been compiled by a devoted model truck builder and has bits from other model builders as well.

It will take a bit of time to sort out and go thru all the relevant info, but it is in this site, basically, it's a gold mine of info for the modeller.
Click onto ALBUMS, left hand column, then go have a stroll thru it.

Here's the colour of the Cummins motor that your after, keep looking and you'll even find brochure photo's of the interior as well.

Yeh, pretty much still the same, not that much is different from years gone by.

Lot's of different ideas around now-a-days though, the internet has sure made it a lot easier for new ideas. There's lot's of newer type of glues, liquids as well as the same old snot from the tubes.
Paints, well now you have the option of enamel or acrylic, still got the brush, but now there's aerosol cans and air brushes are now as cheap as chips.

You can even make a scale model replica of a truck, right down to the decals, which you can now make at home, thanks to the computer.

The main difference in this form of modelling, is in the skill level of the person putting it together and just how badly ' they ' want to make it a decent model.

Hi Deadly Dave. As Greenie mentioned, it is pretty much the same.

I haven't got the airbrush set-up so I'll be using aerosol cans to spray the cab. Should look good.

The biggest challenge I've found is being patient and not rushing it.

I'll post some more pics soon.

Stew.
