Here is an interesting trailer, in use for the delivery of new Melbourne tram B2.2115 from Comeng (Dandenong) to Preston Workshops. From the 1970s, there was a steady delivery of Z-class trams for Melbourne, A-class trams for Melbourne, slightly longer trams forHong Kong (via Appleton Dock), then B-class trams for Melbourne. I don't know if this warranted keeping the trailer in permanent tram-only mode, and if it was lengthened successively. There is also occasional transfer of heritage trams between Melbourne & Bendigo, Bendigo & Sydney, and new longer imports into Melbourne (for Melbourne and for Adelaide), and into Port Kembla (for Sydney), and into Brisbane (for Gold Coast). When Melbourne imported suburban emus, they were transported from Webb Dock on a turntable at one end and an independent bogie at the other. I guess that the current deliveries of emus from Dandenong to Adelaide are handled the same way.

The photo is from my regular contributor Jeff Bounds; you have seen a lot of his work already, and there will always be more.

Roderick, I bet this trailer is still alive and well, this kind of equipment usually lives forever on account of its usefulness...

The below is not - despite the plant life - from down under:)

Passed a small excavator, about 15t, on a float last week.
It was set up with lifting rail wheels, probably for ballast work?
No idea of its rail speed, would need to be a lot faster than when on its tracks.
No outriggers either, must be very limited when working on our 3'6" gauge.

Swishy, best avert your eyes, lol

Yes the rear is from an Ovlov, axles fitted by KW were useful for US Interstates or an Aussie Grey Ghost but in Israel where they overload everything and road conditions limited top speed to maybe 90 clicks they did not last long. And please don't ask what happened to the 318 after a while ::)
