Speaking to a friend who is just back from Adelaide. He say a new train on a truck stopped at Tailem Bend. He went to take a photo but was prevented by a security guard who claimed he couldn't photograph the train with out permission even though it was on a public highway. The situation was turning nasty so he just left.
In the old days they used to tow or drive railway engines on their delivery run, changing bogies as required. Now they truck them around. Is this due to accreditation or is there another reason.
Roderick this seems to be your area. Do you have any information or pictures?

Yes, accreditation (paper warfare).
This could well have been one of the new 1600 mm gauge electric suburban trains for Adelaide. A delivery could have been made on 1435 mm transfer bogies, but it is all too hard now.
Within the railway hobby, we have increasing trouble with 'jobsworth' security guards. The one on the highway move was bluffing, but one has to know how to call the bluff.

I can't find any pictures on open-access sites; the ones which I saw must have been on a facebook site: 48 h after posting, they have scrolled so far that they will never be found again.
Here is a photo of part of one, in the factory, not on the truck:

This one has a good photo of testing in progress:
