New tyres for the bus?

Be it firearms or V8 engines, the question is not "why should you have them?"
, but "who are you to demand that I justify them?"
New tyres for the bus? was created by Eddy
The tyres on the BCI bus are almost on the treadwear indicators, after 38,000 kms, so new ones gotta go on in a few weeks.
Any suggestions for a good wearing tyre in 295/80 R 22.5 ?
Old ones are Double Coin, original fitment, and whilst they ride ok on the road, I'd have thought they would've been good for a few more k's yet.

From some of the stories I've heard, anything on a BCI lasting for 38K is quite an achievement.

Probably going to be no right answer here..
I have ran Hankook on the steers for many years.
Mixture of road surfaces, always sufficient weight..
Been brilliant, tried a Dunlop steer, same vehicle, experienced scalloping.
Goodyear, wore well, but scrubbed edges quite quickly..
Goodyear drives, can't beat em, Hankook on the trailers.. excellent.

Try these ones, seem to go alright on local trucks. They are a city bus tyre with 100km per hour max.

Eddy, for what it is worth, we run Double Coin RR660 tyres on our semi tipper and truck and trailer. We have a lot of trouble chewing tyres out on short haul tipper work on our gravel roads.
I am told the RR660 is designed for buses that are screwing around on bitumen roads. We have been using them on the drives and the trailer axles for quite a few years now, and while they are not a cheap tyre, we are getting better wear out of them, than any other tyre we have tried. They do have a very thick tread.
I think a chap here who runs school buses is using them now, after seeing some we had in the tyre shop.

With tyres there are many things to consider and a tyre that works on one truck may not work on another but the best indicator is the cost per K/M.
We had Volvo trucks doing Farm Milk Pickup averaging only about 40 K/M/Hour on very local work max weight and fast cornering etc and the cheapest steer tyre to run was the dearest tyre to buy Michelin about 42000 K/M next was Goodyear/Dunlop about 36000 K/M.
I guess the point is its horses for courses but sadly the only way to know for sure is to try them all.
Best advice ask someone with similar vehicle on similar work and cheap is not always cheap
