They do only have little drums,it doesn`t look like it`s got any, though I would be amazed he`d get it over the pits with out them. It`s not real clear, but you can see how small the drums are. That Diamond T is a lovely looking truck.

Sharp eyes there, Swish .. I never picked up those tiny little front brakes. However, small or even non-existent front brakes were pretty common on Yank trucks, weren't they? .. to prevent front wheel lock-up and skidding out of control, on snowy or icy roads in Yankeeland.

Howdy,

I was reading some info about front brakes on the ATHS website. Some North American manufacturers were still offering new trucks in 69 with no front brakes.
Any in the 60's - 70's that did have front brakes had slippery / dry limiting valves from what I can gather.
Both my CO190 and the Tranny have front brake limiting valves on the dash.
I was surprised to see limiting on the Tranny being Aus built.

When we had our cwa45 Ud and 540 leyland masstif, the machinery inspector failed my leylandon the front brakes . Took my sons UD in a month later for its inspection .Did the brake test and the ud didn't even stop the rollers with the front brakes ..Anywayat the end of the inspection ,machinery inspector says nothing about the front brakes .I said to him the leyland stopped the rollers ,the ud didn't ,Why ? He said UDs only have little brake boosters on the front that don't do much anyway . ian .
