Have seen similar rigs around Warrnambool and Koroit, two full size
milk tankers. Perhaps on trial or permit to shift larger volumes of
product between factories. Productivity ?? Last two years about.
Looking good, Paul.

there's a heap of milk tankers in that configuration being built in Moama by Byfords. They are about 19 metres long so fit in the access all areas category like a pocket b-double does

Having lived through a pandemic I now understand all the painting of fat people on couches!

I once saw a Double One stop, then couldn't get going again on Wellington rd (steep road near the Paradise hotel). No traction on the drive so always presumed the A trailer was empty.
Another thing with A trailers is not to uncouple from the prime mover with a load on the front. :pinch:

I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.

Swishy,

We've had mini road trains operating out of Port Kembla for a few years.

That Euro bus up front will probably need a servicing every 500,000k and replacement at 3,000,000k.

He must be asleep.
The other awful thing about those Euro trucks is that they are so quiet the old excuse - "I didn't hear the phone" doesn't wash anymore.
Have seen container B Doubles with the A trailer empty and a 40 on the B trailer so they might have the some problem with traction. ABS is great but if the trailers aren't so fitted, is it any help?

The main advantage of the Pocket B Doubles is that they have general access ie not restricted to B Double routes.
An A Train' , as shown in Vic and Swishy's photos is what we used to call a double road train - although the industry doesn't call them that to avoid public opposition.
Anyhow, getting back to my original question. If three experienced drivers reckon an empty A trailer is to be avoided and some clever desk jockey reckons it is fine I will go with the experts.
