Air brake adjustment

Hard to avoid getting a wash yourself, I don't think truckwash is recommended for people.
I understand that the dust gets in when the service brakes are applied then released. This is air from outside via the vent holes in the service brake chamber.

Pete,
We used to have the problem with the livestock trailer working in the dirt all the time.
We brazed a fitting onto the can vent holes then attached nylon hoses and gaggled them all together into a filter.
Cleaned the filter every couple of months when the brakes were adjusted.

Sounds like a good idea for a trailer working in the dust.

Really good idea with the "fittings / hoses" etc. Again, with agi's, no matter how clean you try to keep everything, you still end up with cement in every corner and unseen hard to get place! It's only when you're underneath servicing do you see how the "crap" builds up. Vent holes in the boosters inevitably end up with tiny cement "tears" streaming from them.

With the set up used by GM Diesel, you would need to be careful the hoses didnt get kinked or the filter blocked. This would stop the brakes coming on.

Well spotted, you think the truck makers would have this available.

Yeah, not a bad idea at all. Should keep some of garbage out of the chambers.
