I know BP aren't too popular around the place at the moment, but all the same I thought some of you might like to see their latest fuel tanker that is about to go on the road in NZ if it passes all the safety and manoeuvrability tests.

This is for the new weight regs soon to come in? I knew they were going to use 5 axle tailers, but a 6 axle tractor unit!!??

Imagine trying to pass that over the Kaimai's.

Vic, I trust this rig is designed purely for the few straight highways in NZ .. because I'd hate to think what the tyre scuffing and tyre bill will be like, once you've wheeled around a few thousand kms, of your nice twisty mountain passes! :D
Surely those 5 trailer axles have some form of self-steering on at least the front and rear axles? .. :-?

WellHung Vic
GuddayM8

Gr8 pix
Keep m cummin

Me thinks it aint gunna work
Az an armchair critic I'll say:
The wheel base iz toooo long on the primemover to negotiate roundabouts n cnrs etc
Also the front nose of tanker will hit the chassis of truck when turning up hill into driveway etc
N the RSend of primemover will also hit up under the tank when the front of truck goes down a dip
Q:? Wot weights R they try n for??
Looks like sumthing them shiny arses designed
LOL

Just an Edit/Modify
The bit of tank hang out the front of the 5th wheel will wipe out Traffic light poles Cnr shops n nok the Siren n lights off the top of the cops car waiting @ the adjoin n intersection
LOL

Are you serious Vic ? I see all the problems that Swishy has mentioned plus what are the chances of getting load sharing across 5 trailer axles?
Why not a normal B double / B train as you call them.

Also, if it breaks down, how can it be towed ? No landing legs to unhook tanker and you would not be able to lift those three steer axles off the ground without fouling the tank.

Swishy

I will add one more bending the chassis in half when the front and back wheels of the primemover are the only thing touching the ground when you go in/out of a driveway.

I suppose I'd better come clean then; it is just a photoshopped version of a standard quad/quad tanker. I thought an expert like you would have picked that up, Swishy, I'm disappointed in you! LOL.
