I was familiar with the Valenta 12 cylinder, but not the Ventura V16. The only use I can find is in marine applications, with four of them in the one vessel. What is the source of yours?
The Valenta ran into cooling trouble in the XP motor units of XPT trains in NSW. As they wore out, both UK and Australia refitted with VP185s, but haven't been able to track the design differences which make it better.

I had a very brief affair with a 9cyl. double acting 2 stroke "Hooven-Owens-Rentshler" marine engine of 2,500 hp. many years ago.
They were known as a "HOR" in submarine duty but "Hamilton MAN" in power generation. They were built in Hamilton-Ontario. The "Graf Spee" of the Kaisers navy had eight in four engine rooms. They were built by M-A-N.
