Gday Sarge..
Sorry to hear the new rocket is having a moment..
I know nothing about Charlies, and little about hydraulics.
It does sound like is could be bypassing through a seal?
With the temp warming up the problems gets worse?
We have had similar problems on the bobcats.
I will ask the obvious, does it have a hydraulic filter somewhere that could perhaps need a look at?
Have you got a different hydraulic gadget to connect up to isolate a fault in the scarie ram?
Sorry that i have been if little to no use Sarge..
Don't despair Ol Mate, i am certain there will be a tractor bloke here that knows exactly whats gone on...

Gudday sarge got your pm trying to copy some stuff on the hydraulics got it on to photo bucket buthaving some problems getting onto forum have sent what I have managed to get on so far . Had same problem with mine when I first bought it the pump was stuffed make sure you have got the right oil takes standard agri type oil not hydraulic oil ! it does say this in the owners manual .The pump is pretty dear to by I fixed mine for a long time I just put real thick gear oil in think it was 140? but wouldn't do that if it only has singal pump would do if it had double webster as oil for power shift is in seperate circuit but it sounds to me like your pump is stuffed sorry will pm more stuff when clouds clear and this photobucket starts working again regards Paul

G'day fellas,
Not much help for you sarge... The old inters had a similar set up for the Hyd - remotes V 3p linkage. When you wanted the remote to work there was a tap on the side of the lift box just near your left calf turn this on and the oil was directed to the remote, turn it off and the oil was directed to the linkage. The only issues being that if you wanted the linkage and the remote you could be busy with the tap, or if the linkage leaked down... I'm sure you get the picture.. I'm sorry that the old girl is having a hiccup good luck with it . Spares may be obtained from Rural Wrecking Co in Inveral NSW 02 6725 4617... They specialise in JD parts but have a huge range of tractor for wrecking, including many Chambies... Hope this helps to get you going... If some one knows an old JD mechanic he would be worth asking, in my fuzzy memory is seem to recall that JD sold Chamberlain as a poor cousin... Good luck Sarge.. Neil.

If the pump on this is the same as the 4080 & 4480 they are getting very hard to find not JD at all as you will find with nearly all parts except the engine the last time I bought a pump about 5 years ago it cost $1200 It was the seal on the old one was the problem I had it repaired a couple of times before replacing it . I put just about any old oil I can find in mine and works ok as it is almost a total loss system with the hydrolic rams on some of my old gear and I seem to burst a hose everytime I use something lately.I wouldn't have thought your pump was the problem maybe a seal or valve leaking? I think the power steering is off the same pump so would also give trouble.

well after a day of driving up and down sugar cane drills thinking about this it should be pretty easy to prove weather it is the pump or not .If it was only the 3pl that wasn't working it wouldn't be the pump because the remotes and linkage share the same pump but because both the linkage and remotes dont work any good after a 20 minutes or so I would say the pump is stuffed if it was a pipe leaking internaly and I think there is only on pipe to leak ? it would leak bad all the time hydraulics are like that or at least thats my experanice with them the hydraulic tank cant leak thru to another compartment as it is completely seprate castingand the only holes out of it go out the side hope and it sits on top of the diff and I think my new pump cost about 1200bucks as well maybe more these chamberlians you can use the remotes and linkage with out have to fiddle with anything else as they have a priority valve in them unlike early ones .that stud sticking up on the front of hydraulic tank is were the remote levers pivot on I am geussing you have pulled this off for photo purposes I hope and it is not missing because this might explaine a lot because it will pump thru the relief valve to opperat remotes off the 3pl which would give you the syptoms you describe hope this is of some help regards Paul I might have just answered it maybe
