There are two at the Steam club, Smith Rodney or something and an RB ?? dragline at Lake Goldsmith plus the big steam Shovel up there. All operational. I have pictures somewhere, if you want them send me a PM and I will have a look through my "system".

Ian Fordyce has one,I`m not sure of the make.It was used to dig the fooyings for the Hornibrook bridge to Redcliff,Brisbane,in the 40`s I think. It`s got a petrol engine in it,Hercules maybe,I can`t remember.Any way, this is Ian having a play on it a couple of months ago at his place after we had been to Bert Thiess`s to check out his Caterpillars.I`m certain Work Place Health and Safety would love all the gaurds over the gears. You sit on the wooden bench at the back.Swishy is right about standing clear of the old things.

This another one that was at Ian`s last year when he put on a bit of a Shivoo for both the Brisbane Clubs.I know it`s a dragline, but it looks interresing anyway.

G'day Andy, The little grey one is part of Bob Addisons collection at Beaufort. This one is at Lake Goldsmith out of Beaufort. Every now and again they stoke it up and give demos'.

Cheers, Pete. I've got one of your Lake Goldsmith pics somewhere. Are the Smith Rodneys the two little red ones the Morris' play with? My experience with shovels extends as far as those playground ones and backing trucks under full size ones. Pat's got real swinging time.

Thanks Ray. Yes please, Eeeen.

My father had 2 22RB's back in the late 50's early 60's.
I can still remember the day i was mucking around in one of them
i must have been 7ish and i pulled the pedal lock and the hook
came down and demolished a little cement mixer. It was the hardest boot up the backside i ever had. Had a few but that one i remember.

Hi Mark, last time we where at Ian`s and he was having a play on the grey one, which when you look at the pics, you can see how clearly the leavers arn`t marked.Anyway he lifted the bucket, then pulled the wrong lever and wham, the bucket was on the ground,to the comment,"no that`s not the one".After watching that I can see how easy it would be to do.I think Swishy`s comment about making sure your in a clear area with a lot of free space is worth keeping in mind.
