Identify this petrol engine (missing cyl/head)

My Bro has purchased a property out Gunnedah way. Under the house was this engine and dynamo. I am loving the dynamo, Crompton 110V 9A. Will make a nice resto.
The engine, however I cannot identify as there are no names or numbers on it. Anyone identify it? Is it worth trying to find the missing bits?

...there is a very old publication with the name "Dykes Automobile and Gasoline Engine Encylopedia" (or thereabouts) that may help you along with a google search with those key words of the make of your dynamo...cheers mate.

Has he tried looking in other parts of the property sometimes thing were dismantled and taken to the workshop and put aside for another day and has he tried talking to the guys at the local historical museum it has an extensive range of old engines on display

Unfortunately the previous owner pretty much cleaned everything else out. They missed this under the house, good for me. Apparently there was lots of fun stuff there when he first viewed the place but the owner got people in to clear it all out. Sad to think what might have been in amongst the stuff that went.
There is an old Bedford, about 5 ton.

Unfortunately it is in NSW and I am in QLD, but when I can I will get more piccies.
It is a pretty distinctive boxy looking base that I thought might ring a bell. Missing all those bits it probably will never be a runner, but you just never know.
