WARNING

This Post may contain traces of Modern Truck, Busses Converted to Caravans, a Marine Engine, a gratuitous reference to Volvo Trucks
and a Where Am I quiz.

I recently went to Port Lincoln with the sole purpose of eating biggest mobs of Seafood, I did and it was Good.

On the way though, I stopped at Whyalla, saw the boat in the trees and The Mount Laura Homestead Museum and saw;

The Worlds Best Grain Grinder

And here's the proof

And it's driven by this (belts not included).

Then this (Hastings?) - Deering tractor and scraper combination.

A road roller,

with this engine,

And another road roller.

A Lister Gen Set;

And out the back, an AEC Bus Converted to a Caravan

On the way to Port Lincoln I saw a field of Harvesters

and at the Axel Stenross Maritime Museum Port Lincoln, a

And somewhere along the way a non-Volvo truck doing some work

And for those wot likz a quiz, a Where am eye?

While touring the ship in the trees, I discovered that BHP once mined iron ore at Iron Knob, turned that ore into steel at Whyalla and with that steel, built ships at the Whyalla ship yard and those same ships then sailed all over the world for the next 20 or 30 years, often with Australian Crews.
Fancy that, iron ore to ship, all in the one same country.
WIBFAA.

Detective, I think you will find that the Kelvin engine is a purpuse built marine engine. The company started building engines in the early 1900,s and built some very biiiiiiiiiiig stuff over the years.

Thanks for the photos and commentary Bobsboy,
When at the Stenross museum we learned that a ship had been damaged by a German mine near Port Lincoln, the war was closer than we were told.
International tractors were titled McCormick Deering, from the amalgamation of the McCormick Harvesting Machine Co and the Deering Harvester Co in 1902.
The tractor pictured is a TD35, petrol start through a third valve in the head, after a warm up this was closed increasing compression to run on diesel.
David.
