I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.

Hi,
Thanks Southbound.
What steel would this be made from. Could I weld it back together?

I think its probably cast iron. The simplest fix is to braze it back together.Unless you know what you are doing, welding is likely to result in a mess.A careful braze, and clean out the hole with a file.

G'day Sanctuary, Looks to be cast aluminium, Probably not worth it if your not really concerned about originality, Bit of mild steel with a screw on ball on top will work well.
Cheers

It looks like a normal old spool valve lever and been of a Chamberlain it would most likely be a Malcolm Moore as thats the brand they used on their agg tractors

Hi , Has anybody near you got a TIG welder. If it is Aluminium, that is the strongest way to repair it or if it is cast iron then as John.K said Brazing would be good. - Kav

As Paul said, it's a pretty stock standard spool lever. I would think that any tractor wreckers would have one. I would try Griffith Traders first.

As Diesel says, try Griffith Traders,( not far from you), or failing that, try Rural Wreckers in Inverell. They have supplied me with a lot of Chamberlain parts in the past.

Thanks everyone,
I've had it brazed and it seems to have worked. See photo. I think it was die cast. I just need to drill it out as suggested by John K.
Also in photo, you'll notice the pivot pin in the control arm. I guess I'll drill this out.
Any suggestions from anyone on how to replace it?
Regards
